In addition to a degree from the University of Georgia, Marty has a Masters of Divinity from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He has been privileged to pastor five churches. Marty was born in East Point, Georgia, but grew up in Vidalia, Georgia. At the age of 14, Marty accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and as a college sophomore, surrendered to the ministry.

Paul grew up in a Christian home, and was converted to Christ at a young age. He has studied apologetics and creation science for many years, after originally being challenged by evolutionary thinking in high school. After graduating from the University of Georgia with a B.A. in International Affairs, he spent several years living abroad with his wife Amanda as an English language instructor in South Korea and Russia.
